NEW CESSNA TURBOPROP TO USE SAFE FLIGHT AOA SYSTEM

Safe Flight Instrument Corp. announced that its Angle of Attack (AoA) Stall Protection System has been selected by Textron Aviation for the Cessna Denali single-engine turboprop, which is expected to make its first flight in 2018.

The announcement continues a business relationship under which Safe Flight, of White Plains, New York, has provided equipment on every piston and turboprop aircraft Textron manufactures, and on many Cessna Citation business jets, Safe Flight said in a news release.

For the 285-knot, eight-to-11-place low-wing Denali that is powered by a 1,240-shaft-horsepower GE engine and is expected to fly next year, Safe Flight’s AoA Stall Protection System will consist of “two leading edge mounted wing Lift Transducers and two digital Angle of Attack Stall Protection computers.” The system will sense angle of attack “regardless of aircraft weight, wing loading, flap position or center of gravity,” Safe Flight said.

Safe Flight has provided primary stall warning and angle-of-attack systems “dating back to the Beech Bonanza in 1947 and the Cessna 190 in 1949,” the announcement said.
