Druck’s DPI610E-Aero is a portable, self-contained pressure calibrator designed for fast and reliable leak testing of aircraft pitot-static systems.

Building on the legacy of the DPI610A, the DPI610E-Aero maintains the same core functionality but boasts a refreshed user interface with a high resolution, back lit display, a rugged design, and utilises the latest TERPS pressure sensing technology.

This application story details a recent engagement with a customer who runs a flight school in the UK. Druck’s application engineer demonstrated the DPI610E-Aero as a solution to aircraft leak testing and go/no go validation.

Customer challenge
Flight schools, like large MROs and airliners, require reliable aviation test equipment for the test and calibration of pitot static systems, leak tests and go/no go testing.

The pitot-static system of an aircraft, which measures airspeed and altitude, is a critical process in all modern aircraft. This system needs to be regularly calibrated to ensure accuracy.

Druck’s DPI610E-Aero was presented to the customer as a modern, portable leak tester.

Through the product demonstration, the customer was able to:

Perform a go/no go test on aircraft pitot-static system.
Perform quick leak tests to validate system integrity.
Train pilots to interpret pressure data and assess flight readiness.

The Druck solution
The customer saw benefit in using the DPI610E-Aero as a portable solution, as their aircraft were often in separate hangars or in the runway.

The flight school instructors were able to perform a hands-on demonstration of altitude and airspeed simulation. The instructor used the DPI610E-Aero to simulate a climb to 10,000 ft. The student observes the rate of climb and verifies the system’s response. A leak was then introduced to demonstrate how faulty readings can occur and the student performs a go/no-go test, identifies the fault, and logs the result, reinforcing the importance of pre-flight system checks.
