A state-of-the-art 3-Bay MRO Hangar facility at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is now equipped with one of the largest Vertical Lifting Fabric Hangar Doors installed by Gandhi Automations Pvt Ltd.

This project sets a new benchmark in large-scale hangar access engineering in Southeast Asia. The facility is designed to handle a range of operations including aircraft maintenance and painting, and is capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A380.

The complete scope of work — from design and manufacture to supply and installation — was carried out by Gandhi Automations, with a single-span Vertical Lifting Fabric Hangar Door system tailored for this multi-bay structure.

The installed door spans an extraordinary 231,000 mm in width and 26,000 mm in height, consisting of 11 individual door leaves and 10 movable mullions. This setup provides uninterrupted clear-span access across all three bays, with no internal columns obstructing the hangar floor — a critical feature for smooth aircraft movement and operational flexibility.

Each door leaf is designed to lift vertically in a smooth, synchronized motion, eliminating the need for side pockets or extensive foundation work. The structure is clad in high-performance, durable translucent fabric that allows natural light to diffuse into the hangar, enhancing visibility and creating a brighter working environment.

The Vertical Lifting Fabric Aircraft Hangar Door complies with international aviation and safety standards, incorporating built-in safety features and minimal moving parts to ensure reliable performance and low maintenance. It is also fully compatible with Building Management Systems (BMS), supporting seamless integration with modern infrastructure.
