Thanks to its aluminum construction, the platform is lightweight and easy to manoeuver, yet also extremely stable and low-maintenance thanks to numerous welded connections.
LICO Stahl- und Kunststofftechnik GmbH, the specialist for helicopter ground support equipment, supplied the Saxony police helicopter squadron with two custom-produced work platforms for H135 helicopters. For this application, helicopter maintenance and repair work has to be carried out directly on the landing platform. So it was necessary to design a custom work platform to meet the customer’s specific requirements. The newly developed work platform enables maintenance and repair work to be performed directly on the platform by the maintenance crew at Dresden Airport. The work platform offers the advantage of being able to accommodate helicopter positioning variance of +/- 0.5 meters. Of course, no modification is necessary to use the work platform directly adjacent to the helicopter without the landing platform.
The work stages were specially designed by LICO for work on H135 and H145 helicopters. To ensure optimal protection of the helicopter during maintenance, all work platform components that can come into contact with the helicopter are equipped with special padding. Streamlined work processes are ensured thanks to a separate left and right work platform for the helicopter, enabling work on both sides simultaneously. The work platforms are also equipped with height-adjustable platforms operated by ergonomic handles. This allows for working height adjustment of 1.2 to 2 meters for optimal accommodation of staff and maintenance/repair work. Minimal crank force is required. Moreover, the platforms have storage shelves for tools, as well as removable railings.
The work platforms are equipped with direction adjusting means as well as 4 swivel casters, of which 2 with brakes. This allows for accurate and convenient platform positioning, as well as relocation. Two supports on the walk-up side ensure platform safety at all times. Checker plates, anti-slip steps (anti-slip class R10) along with ergonomic handrails and railings ensure safe mounting and demounting. The work platforms are welded, aluminum constructions, which makes them absolutely weather resistant and low-maintenance. It also means they are lightweight and offer outstanding durability and stability. LICO work platforms meet the most stringent occupational safety standards in accordance with DIN ISO 14122-2/-3.
The platform is compatible with landing platforms from various manufacturers, such as Wackerbauer, Heliwagon, Johne Service (see images from Johne-Service). Modification to suit other models is easily possible.
