DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH | Reliability where it counts

DFS, the German air navigation service provider was looking for a keyboard for the flight plan data processing system in its control towers.

The Challenge

DFS, the German air navigation service provider was looking for a keyboard for the flight plan data processing system in its control towers. The keyboard needed to meet several requirements at the same time:

- It should be compact in order to not to take much space of the already very limited space on the air traffic controllers' workstations.

- It should be configurable as each control tower has its own special requirements.

- It should be easy to operate even in low light conditions.

- It should be robust to be reliable around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Solution

PrehKeyTec´s keyboardMCI 128 meets all the above requirements.

With a total number of 128 free configurable and free programmable key positions, this keyboard offers perfect flexibility. The variety of different key sizes and colors, as well as the possibility to create individual lettering, make modifications simple and quick.

With the optional back-lighting module the keyboard ensures a good legibility at night, without disturbing stray light.

"We are sure that we have chosen an excellent solution and that we are well prepared for the future," explains Jürgen Holzer, Product Manager Flight Data Processing, Tower Unit.
