Brazil booster

The Brazilian Association of Airline Companies (ABEAR) says in an unpublished study that the air cargo and passenger industry makes a much higher contribution to the economy than official government figures suggest.

In a statement released on the eve of the International Brazil Air Show in Rio de Janeiro, it said that air transport contributes 4.2% of Rio de Janeiro’s total production, or the equivalent of BRL 45.8 billion (EUR 13.5 billion). The share is higher than the contribution of the sector measured in the national plan, estimated at only 3.1% of total Brazilian production.
