Gardner wins Airbus A350 XWB deals

Gardner Aerospace, a leading international manufacturer of aerospace finished components, detailed parts and sub-assemblies, is strengthening and expanding its order book significantly, with recent deals secured for both sizeable new work packages and expanding existing work packages on the Airbus A350 XWB.

The first deal, worth over $100 million, will see the company delivering additional A350 XWB cabin Non-Standard B Brackets (NSBBs) parts to Airbus Germany. Gardner Aerospace was selected for the manufacture of these machined and sheet metal detailed parts and sub-assemblies, which are mostly aluminium. First deliveries will commence in September 2017 and will extend to 400 aircraft sets initially.

Gardner has also secured a contract expansion and extension worth over $110m for the manufacture of A350 XWB fuselage NSBBs to Airbus France and Airbus Germany. The deal now runs to 2021, covering machined and sheet metal detailed parts and sub-assemblies, including welded ramps, which are used by Airbus to support the fixing and mounting of systems equipment to the fuselage. Gardner Aerospace’s Derby (UK) facility is taking the lead on both projects.

Nick Guttridge, Gardner’s executive vice-president, business development, said: “These new deals and contract extensions prove again how Gardner Aerospace continues to meet the very high standards set by Airbus for the A350 XWB. Our understanding of the unique NSBB demand dynamics makes us Airbus’ most knowledgeable NSBB supplier and we look forward to continuing and strengthening our relationship for many years to come.”
