Dublin Airport experiences record October

Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport reached almost 2.6 million in October, up 4% on the same month last year and making it the busiest October in the airport’s 77-year history.

Dublin Airport has welcomed more than 25.3 million passengers so far this year, representing a 6% increase over the same period in 2016. The number of passengers flying to and from continental Europe increased by 5%, as more than 1.3 million passengers travelled to and from continental European destinations in October.

Almost 841,000 passengers traveled to and from UK destinations last month, a 2% decrease when compared to October last year, and almost 8,000 passengers traveled on domestic routes last month, up 6% on the same period in 2016.

Elsewhere in the world, transatlantic traffic to North America increased by 14%, with more than 333,000 passengers travelling on this route sector last month. The number of passengers traveling to other international destinations in the Middle East and North Africa increased by 16%, with over 69,000 passengers flying to these routes in October.
