Colorado Snow & Ice exhibit opens at Denver International Airport

A new art and science exhibition at Denver International Airport (DEN) will give travelers the opportunity to learn about Colorado winters.

The Colorado Snow & Ice exhibit provides insight into the different aspects of the state’s winter season including recreational activities and research and technology that helps keep the region safe, in addition to artwork that showcases the beauty of Colorado.

The exhibition features origami snowflakes, night-time photography, hand-painted original artworks used for ski maps and artistic interpretations of some of Colorado’s favorite peaks. There is also video footage from helicopters capturing avalanches, replicas of research snow pits, and scientific gadgets that help to educate people about snow. There are also vintage and modern day recreational equipment such as sleds, lift tickets, ice skates and skis. Travelers can get involved by making their own origami creations.

Participating exhibitors include Colorado Avalanche Information Center, Center for Snow and Avalanche Studies, National Snow and Ice Data Center, Epic Origami, Colorado Snowsports Museum & Hall of Fame, ski map artist James (Jim) Niehues, painter Tracy Felix, and photographer Mike Berenson.

The exhibit is located in Ansbacher Hall in the Jeppesen Terminal, Level 6 North before A Bridge Security, until early January 2018.
