Zodiac and Ro-Ra co-develop Bombardier stowages

Zodiac Aerospace is teaming up with aviation components company, Ro-Ra Aviation Systems, for the development of a latching system for the overhead stowage compartments in a new Bombardier cabin interior.

The project is focused on combining plastic with metal precision parts and metallic paintwork, so the latches look good an also have a lifecycle of more than 120,000 open/close cycles under various static and dynamic loads including changing environmental conditions and the spraying of insecticides. The comprehensive test procedures leading up to approval and beyond will be performed in Germany, in part by Ro-Ra Aviation Systems in Schörfling, in collaboration with the Johannes Kepler University of Linz and technical colleges in Wels and Steyr.

“We are responsible for the detailed design engineering, development, production and of course for qualification,” stated Ro-Ra managing director, Helmut Wiesenberger.
