Groupe ADP wins US$17.5m contract to design Sharjah International Airport expansion

Groupe ADP, through ADP Ingénierie, has been awarded a €15m (US$17.5m) contract to design and supervise the expansion of Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates. ADP Ingénierie was appointed by the airport authority as part of a US$410m expansion project at the hub.

The project is one of the largest airport developments currently taking place in the region and will increase the the capacity of the existing terminal so it can accomodate 17.5 million passengers per year, up from the current 11 million annual passenger traffic.

The expansion will strive to enhance the passenger experience, including flows segregation at departures and arrivals and additional aircraft parking stands.

Gratien Maire, CEO of ADP Ingénierie, said, “This new contract rewards our know-how in airport design in a part of the world where we are very active. Our team of experts will be deployed in Sharjah.

“One of the challenges will be to maintain the airport capacity and operations at all time during the execution of the construction packages, which are expected to start in 2019.
