Gatwick Airport names new charity partnerships

London Gatwick Airport has announced two-year charitable parterships with St Catherine’s Hospice and Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust.

Following a Gatwick staff vote, St Catherine’s Hospice has been selected as the airport’s local charity partner, while Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust was chosen by the airport’s senior management team.

St Catherine’s Hospice is based in Crawley, West Sussex, and provides end-of-life care and support to terminally ill people and their families across Crawley, Horsham, East Surrey and Mid Sussex.

Gatwick has already enjoyed a two-year partnership with the hospice, which has helped raise more than £113,000 (US$161,865) since it started.

As an independent charity, Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust provides a 24-hour helicopter emergency medical service across its namesake counties. The charity relies on fundraising and donations.

Tim Norwood, director of corporate affairs, planning and sustainability at London Gatwick, said, “Our staff are passionate about supporting and fundraising for all of our charity partnerships and it is great they were able to have a say in selecting our local charity partner for the next two years.

“We look forward to supporting these incredible organizations which do vital work for those in need, across our local community.”
