Duncan Completes First Media Panel Installation

Duncan Aviation has completed the industry-first installation of a Rosen Aviation media input panel (MIP) on a business aircraft. The installation was performed in a Falcon 2000 at the company's Battle Creek, Michigan facility.

Rosen's MIP was designed for legacy business aircraft with classic cabin management systems and allows passengers to plug in a high-definition multimedia input (HDMI) device—such as an Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, or Blu-Ray disc player—into the HD input port to view HD content on Rosen’s HD/Smart Monitor, which was also part of the initial installation in the Falcon 2000. The panel also allows for input from a USB device to view HD content.

“The MIP is an affordable option for a simple digital media interface to a classic CMS,” said Duncan avionics installation sales representative Mike Morgan, adding it is perfect for using content stored on personal digital media devices. “It’s cost effective and it lets passengers in the cabin watch HD content on the Rosen HD/Smart monitors while converting the audio to the analog CMS for distribution.”

This installation was conducted along with a C-check and a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 flight deck upgrade. According to Duncan, the MIP install alone would take five days.
