Plaza Premium opens new arrivals lounge in Cebu’s Domestic Terminal

Plaza Premium has just opened a new locale-sympathetic arrivals lounge in the Philippines supporting its existing International Departures lounge in Terminal 2. Located in Terminal 1 of Cebu’s international airport, the new pay-for lounge is brimming with character that bring the archipelago to life.

Located in the restricted area, the 3,000-square-foot lounge is open 24 hours to offer a spectrum of services and facilities for all travellers to immerse themselves in total relaxation and comfort for the ultimate guest experience, with a warm greeting through a bespoke hand-painted iconic Cebu beach landscape setting at the reception.

Influenced with Spanish colonial elements, the lounge architecture incorporated the use of traditional arch-shaped mirrors adding a touch of softness to the overall ambiance. To embody vernacular architecture, the lounge features Bankaray, a locally sourced wood material used as vertical planks adding a unique texture to the walls.

The lounge reflects the work currently underway to completely renovate Terminal 1, brought on by the ever increasing tourism boom in the country. “Terminal 1 is undergoing a total renovation plan that will complement Terminal 2’s resort-airport design concept and will provide an enhanced travel experience for the airport users. As we usher these improvements, we are glad to have Plaza Premium Lounge on board to establish its second lounge at Mactan Cebu International Airport. We strongly believe the synergy built will continue to elevate the travel experience for our passengers,” commented by Andrew Acquaah-Harrison, Chief Executive Advisor of GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation.

The lounge has a lighter and brighter approach to its fellow 70-something counterparts worldwide, showing a cultural sensitivity to the passengers it serves.

Up to 80 guests at a time are invited to indulge in a wide range of facilities and services including food and beverage selections with a live cooking kitchen, comfortable seating, shower facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi and recharging stations whilst staying updated on the latest news with complimentary magazines, newspapers and TV channels.

Mirroring Philippine Airlines’ new Cebu lounge there is a modern, Philippine aesthetic at play, utilising wood, lattice work, arched mirror and clean contemporary wood and natural stone finishes.

“Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines and serves as the main hub for industries such as commerce, trade and education. The blooming economy has then elevated Mactan Cebu International Airport to be the country’s second busiest airport. It’s a great timing for us to tap on the continuity on passengers’ demand from the existing lounge to the new addition to make travel better for everyone.” said Song Hoi-see, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Plaza Premium Group.
