Air China is launch customer for ULD management service

Air China Cargo has become the launch customer for airfreight container repair specialist ULD Partner’s new fleet management service.

It covers the supply, repair and maintenance, tracking and tracing and control of 13,000 unit load devices (ULD) for both Air China and Air China Cargo, covering more than 80 airports around world from December.

ULD Partner is owned by DAS Aviation Services, providing services including ULD repair and maintenance, rental and leasing and cargo equipment provision.

It is backed by majority shareholder Dah Chong Hong Holdings, a well-established motor vehicle leasing company in China.

It also operates repair shops in Hong Kong and PRC that have repaired over 800,000 ULDs since operations started in Hong Kong in 1998 and in PRC in 2004, in addition to providing extensive ULD rental services for many years.

The group decided to move into ULD fleet management in 2012, creating the ULD Partner brand, which aims to improve operational efficiency and increase safety awareness in ULD handling, along with realising the financial benefits for airlines.

Air China Cargo vice president of service and operations, Ray Lo, said that ULD Partner was able to provide financial benefits and operational flexibility. It would “be able to provide us a total ULD management service that is suitable for our operations in future.”

ULD Partner general manager, Angel Cheung, commented: “We are delighted to be able to enter into this long-term cooperation with Air China Cargo, China’s flagship cargo carrier, which now becomes our launch customer for ULD fleet management services. We are confident that we will fulfil our vision by increasing the awareness and operational efficiency of ULDs in the industry, and to provide more cost effective solutions to our airline partners around the world.”
