Barberry signs deal to build aerospace manufacturing facility for Moog

Development and investment company Barberry Industrial has signed a deal with Moog to build a £40m aerospace manufacturing and design facility in Gloucestershire, UK.

The 184,000ft² centre of excellence will be built for Moog’s Aircraft Controls Segment on a ten-acre site at Ashchurch, Tewkesbury.

Barberry has agreed to a pre-let to Moog on a lease for 35 years, as part of an off-market deal.

Moog’s Tewkesbury Aircraft Controls Segment operation, which serves as the global centre of excellence for the design of servo valves, houses an engineering division within its existing facility.

Barberry intends to submit an application for planning consent to Tewkesbury Borough Council this month for the new aerospace manufacturing facility.

Construction on the facility is scheduled to start in the first quarter of next year. It will be designed to be a carbon-neutral building.

The facility is expected to expand to a total of 207,000ft² and will incorporate engineering and administration offices. It is scheduled to be operational in 2023.

Barberry Industrial development director and shareholder Jon Robinson said: “The new development will provide Moog with a high-quality state-of-the-art facility with easy access to the M5, the M50, the M42 and the motorway network beyond.

“It will bring substantial investment to the region, safeguard the employment of a highly skilled workforce while creating many new jobs.”

With the new aerospace manufacturing facility, Moog will be able to boost its growth in Engine and Flight control products for military and commercial aerospace programmes.

Tewkesbury Borough Council chief executive Mike Dawson said: “Moog’s commitment demonstrates the accessibility, infrastructure and demographic of Tewkesbury and we hope it will attract other big names to do the same.”
