FACC develops Challenger 3500 cabin

A cabin design for Bombardier’s recently launched Challenger 3500 super mid-size business jet platform has been revealed by FACC, which is responsible for the development and production of portions of the cabin interior. The first aircraft will be delivered in the second half of 2022.

“The new Challenger 3500 aircraft stands for the ultimate cabin experience, to which we will be making a significant contribution… Building on our many years of know-how and our innovative strength with regard to complex, high-quality interior systems, our teams of FACC experts have joined forces to create a completely new business travel experience,” stated Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC AG.

FACC has worked with every Challenger series, with the Challenger 3500 being the third generation of the platform. FACC is responsible for the development, production and certification of portions of the cabin, from the sidewalls, headliners, bulkheads and PSUs, to the wardrobe, galley, various cabinets, tables, baggage compartments, partitions, cabling and the lavatory. Each cabin is custom-made, with the components painted, veneered or covered with leather on request and delivered fully assembled to the Bombardier end line in Montreal (Canada).

This newest member of the Challenger family has a greater focus on sustainability and is the first business jet in the super mid-size segment to feature an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), providing a record of the aircraft’s ecological footprint throughout its lifecycle.

With regard to outfitting the cabin, aircraft operators can opt for high-quality and sustainable materials. FACC has refined its processes and materials for the Challenger 3500 with a focus on sustainability and is using more natural materials such as real wood veneers and leather. For the leathering and manufacture of veneered and high-gloss lacquered premium furniture, FACC has invested in its own in-house manufacturing facility for business jet monuments, aiding its ability to cater to individual customer requests.

“The redesigned cabin components combine high-quality, sustainable materials and state-of-the-art technologies with the highest standards in terms of aesthetics, comfort and functionality. Passengers can look forward to an exceptional cabin experience in the new Challenger 3500,” added Machtlinger.
