KLM to fly to 167 destinations this summer

The Dutch airline KLM announced on Monday that it will fly to 167 direct destinations for the summer. From March 27 through October 29, the airline will offer flights to 96 European and 71 intercontinental destinations.

Europe: More Capacity

The airline’s capacity in Europe for this summer has increased by 10% compared to last year and is almost back to the 2019 level. In total, that’s about 16 million seats.

For example, KLM is operating more frequencies to Portuguese cities such as Porto and Lisbon, three and four times a day respectively.

Thanks to the success of destinations such as Belgrade, Dubrovnik and Palma de Mallorca, which were launched last year, they have also been included in the route network for the summer. KLM also anticipates the return of the business traveler through the expansion of several British, German and Polish routes.

Intercontinental flights

The airline has also increased capacity on its intercontinental network by 17% compared to last year, due to the upward trend in bookings. This summer, it will fly daily to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. During the vacation period, we will even increase the frequency to Curaçao to two per day. Port of Spain (Trinidad) will also be offered with flights three times a week.

Since the reopening of the USA in November 2021, demand for flights continues to grow. This summer, capacity is at the 2019 level. With the resumption of flights to Salt Lake City and the new Austin destination, the airline will fly to more destinations in the country than ever this summer (12).

Although entry restrictions still vary in many Asian countries, the airline sees demand for destinations such as the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Bali increasing again this summer. India, too, has announced the relaxation of entry rules, to which KLM will respond by increasing frequencies to Delhi and Mumbai.

Capacity on most routes to South America has been restored almost to the level it was at before the Covid crisis. KLM flies daily to Sao Paulo, Panama and Lima and at least six times a week to Quito/Guayaquil, Bogota/Cartagena, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires/Santiago de Chile.

Passengers wanting to fly to Africa can choose from 10 destinations this summer. Capacity has been increased on many routes compared to last summer. Zanzibar has been added to the schedule due to increased demand. KLM also flies to destinations such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, Accra, Lagos, Kigali, Entebbe, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam.
