Tecnam Unveils 'Gran Lusso' at AirVenture

Tecnam’s P2010 Gran Lusso is on display at EAA AirVenture 2022. The high wing, single-engine piston, four-seater features a luxury interior with electrically-adjustable seats, Italian leather upholstery, carbon-fiber insets, and an all-new center power quadrant.

Other Gran Lusso features include a new parking brake that is easier to manipulate, two mobile phone holders, improved USB ports, new wingtips with integrated LED lights, metallic paint options, and new "super premium" interiors. Avionics are a Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite that includes the GFC 707 autopilot with Garmin electronic stability and protection and GCU 475 FMS keyboard.

Available powerplants for the Gran Lusso include the Continental 170-hp turbocharged CD-170 diesel engine with single-lever fadec power control. Equipped with this engine, the aircraft burns 5.2 gph, cruises at 140 knots, and has a range of 961 nm. Fuel capacity of the P2010 is 63 gallons. The diesel-powered P2010 received FAA Part 23 certification approval late last year. Other engine options for the P2010 include the 180-hp Lycoming IO-360-MIA, which can burn mogas or avgas, and a 215-hp Lycoming IO-390 that runs on 100LL avgas.

Last December Tecnam, working with Rolls-Royce and Rotax, flew a hybrid-electric demonstrator of the P2010. The Tecnam P2010 H3PS is powered by a Rotax 915 iS piston engine coupled with a 30-kW Rolls-Royce electric motor, with the powertrain in a fully integrated parallel hybrid configuration.
