Ground Power Units by RECK SOLAR & ELME Elektromechanik – Reliable Power Solutions for Modern Aviation

Ready for the Future of Aviation

Since 1978, RECK SOLAR & ELME Elektromechanik has been designing and manufacturing high-performance ground power systems for the aviation industry. The company's portfolio includes a comprehensive range of 28 VDC Ground Power Units (GPUs), from lightweight portable units to heavy-duty systems delivering up to 800 A continuous current and 2,400 A peak starting power.

Designed and manufactured in Germany, RECK GPUs are trusted by flight schools, MRO organizations, FBOs, airports, and operators of business, general, and special mission aircraft worldwide.

The Right GPU for Every Application

Different maintenance tasks require different levels of power. RECK offers a complete range of Ground Power Units to meet virtually every operational requirement.

The APU 100 E is a lightweight portable GPU weighing only 9 kg. It is the ideal solution for avionics maintenance, software updates, inspections, and servicing of smaller aircraft. Its compact design allows technicians to transport it easily wherever reliable DC power is required.

For more demanding maintenance operations, the APU 200 E delivers a stable 200 A continuous power supply, ensuring reliable performance during extended servicing and electrical testing.

The APU 400/1600 is the company's most widely used model. Providing 400 A continuous current and up to 1,600 A peak output for engine starts, it is suitable for both continuous aircraft power supply and engine starting applications. The unit is available in both hangar and apron configurations and can also be supplied in a weather-protected version for outdoor operation.

For maximum performance, the APU 800 E represents the flagship of the product range. Delivering 800 A continuous current and 2,400 A peak output, it offers substantial power reserves for large aircraft, engine starting, and demanding maintenance procedures such as engine washing.

Increasing Efficiency While Reducing Costs

External Ground Power Units provide far more than reliable electrical power. By replacing the aircraft's Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) during ground operations, operators can significantly reduce fuel consumption, minimize engine wear, lower maintenance costs, and decrease overall operating expenses.

In addition, using external GPUs reduces noise emissions and lowers the environmental impact of airport ground operations, supporting increasingly important sustainability initiatives throughout the aviation industry.

German Engineering You Can Trust

Every RECK Ground Power Unit is developed with a strong focus on reliability, durability, and long service life. High-quality components, decades of engineering experience, and practical product development ensure dependable performance even under the most demanding operating conditions.

Besides its standard product portfolio, RECK also develops customized solutions tailored to individual customer requirements, offering maximum flexibility for specialized applications.

Ready for the Future of Aviation

As aircraft become increasingly sophisticated and avionics systems more sensitive, the quality and stability of external power supplies are becoming more critical than ever. Clean, reliable DC power protects valuable onboard electronics while enabling efficient maintenance and safe ground operations.

From compact portable units to high-performance engine-start GPUs, RECK SOLAR & ELME Elektromechanik delivers dependable ground power solutions that combine German engineering, operational reliability, and outstanding performance.

Whether in the hangar or on the apron, RECK Ground Power Units help aviation professionals keep aircraft ready for flight—efficiently, safely, and reliably.
